Synopsis
In a small Kyrgyzstan village the teenage Begaim waits for her husband to return. He has left her soon after their marriage to work in Russia. She is heavily pregnant, and lives with her grandmother, Napisa, who treats her as a servant. While the husband sends money, he has stopped phoning Begaim.
Begaim is faced with betrayal by an absent husband, a cruel grandmother, and a life for her child with little hope. The conflicts are heightened at a party arranged by the grandmother for her friends, at which Begaim is forced to serve the guests, and sing for them.

Director Biography
Aygul Bakanova grew up in Kyrgyzstan. She studied International Journalism before starting her career writing for TV stations in Russia. After four years of television experience in Moscow, she entered the MA Filmmaking course at the London Film School. For her graduation project Aygul wrote, directed and co-produced a short story set in Kyrgyzstan, where she plans to pursue her career as writer/director. Currently, Aygul is working on her first feature drama.
